Group two: Justice

This serigraph is an amaginary illustration of the verse:
"Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the Lord thy God given thee, tribe by tribe; and thy shall judge the people with righteous judgment"
(Deuteronomy 16:18)

The command that appears in the Book of Deuteronomy as a procedure to ensure justice became, in my imagination, a living scene, in which the judges sit in the gates of an ancient Biblical city, holding books of law, and facing them a pair of disputants, between whom they have to judge. Also present is an interested and attentive "audience" consisting of one man.

Our angle of vision allows us a view of the daily activity taking place in the city square within the walls. The Shield of David that decorates the walls is taken from a similar embellishment that appears on the walls of Jerusalem.
