Kozma István

1937 - 2020

Biography

He was born in 1937 in Szatmárnémeti, Roumania (also known under the Roumanian name Statu Mare). He graduated from the Academy of Painting and Crafts in 1963 in Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca). From 1963 to 1990 he lived and worked in Nagybánya (Baia Mare). He contributed to most notable group exhibitions and biennials and exhibitions in countries like Germany, Tzchecoslovakia, Israel, Canada, and many more. 
He had one-man exposition in every important city of his homeland, Transylvania (Nagybánya, Szatmárnémeti, Kolozsvár, Brassó -Brasov, Nagyvárad - Oradea, Csíkszereda - Miercurea Ciuc) as well as in Bucarest. Most of his paintings are part of private collections in Hungary and Roumania.
Kozma is a worthy follower of Simon Hollósy, the founding father of the school of modernist Hungarian painting.

In 2012 he has got  "Magyar Érdemrend Lovagkereszt" price.
